Political Promise

Brown and Labour Party

Gordon Brown has stated that after the coup for Labour leadership, he is now “determined to stay as prime minister”. Now I see what he is implying here – he wasn’t giving a stuff about the country, and how he ran it, until the media decided to tell everyone that even Labour themselves don’t trust Brown to win the election. So Gordon can’t even win an election, according to his party, let alone “save the world and lead the banks…” However, the thing that really riles me here, it that the rest of his party chose to keep him, claiming that to change leader at the start of an election campaign would be to concede defeat. We all know that he can’t run the country, and at least they had the decency to have a secret ballot on whether to give him the boot. However, we must think the unthinkable. What if Brown and his Labour government win the election? He has promised to serve a full 4-year term. If this does happen, to quote Brown again:

“We’re doomed.”

We’re doomed
